GeoSINT — We Have
Objective
Identify the precise location shown in we_have_geosint.jpg and submit it to the GeoSINT challenge.
Observations
- The car fleet, road markings, street lighting, and white-painted tree trunks point to Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
- The image was taken from a glass-sided elevated pedestrian crossing over a broad, divided six-lane boulevard.
- A mature park lies on one side of the road, while a paved entrance/plaza and a distinctive mid-rise building appear on the other.
Narrowing the location
Tashkent has several large Bunyodkor Avenue interchanges. The initial Bunyodkor–Seoul candidate was tested and rejected, so it was ruled out rather than pursued further.
The decisive match was the Bunyodkor Avenue–Cho'ponota Street interchange:
- it carries a six-lane Bunyodkor overpass;
- it has paired, glass-sided pedestrian crossings with lifts/escalators;
- it sits beside G'afur G'ulom Park, matching the trees and open park-side space in the image.
Public reports on the 2018 opening confirm the location and the two 124 m pedestrian crossings.
Submission
Submitted the midpoint of the two mapped pedestrian crossings:
Latitude: 41.28210
Longitude: 69.21240
The challenge returned status: correct and the flag:
